The reason for the different tread patterns is because a motorcycle's front tire undergoes completely different stresses than the rear tire, unlike an automobile tire tread that is unidirectional with a flat profile, and thus doesn't have to be designed differently.
Not really sure how you think that a tread pattern can "push water towards the center of the tire"; water will always look for an escape path no matter which direction the tread sipes are. Needless to say, the tire manufacturer engineers would not design a tire that would cause hydroplaning. All tires undergo rigorous testing in wet conditions (Michelins included, which I've ridden on in the wet with no ill effects).
