Kõik variandid on kindlasti paremad, kui ZID 4,5. Samas ära võrdle aeglase käigulise diisli ja mitu korda suuremate pööretega pensuka hobujõude, suurt rolli mängib ka pöördemoment ehk vääne.
GAZ 51 käigukast peab D 21 järgi edukalt vastu, ainult ühendamine nõuab natuke pusimist.
