Fun with my first TIG welder!
I've added lift TIG to my arc welder. Got the parts online from Meld in Tartu.
100% Argon gas from Elme, 10-litre cylinder was €25 but I should have got a 20 litre, I'm using a lot of gas!
As I'm welding 0.75 -1.5mm metal on the van I'm using a 1.6mm "gold" tungsten electrode and 0.8mm filler rod made from MIG wire twisted using a drill to make it stiffer.
You don't always need a filler with butt or lap welds.
Starting with about 20amps then adjust as needed.
As its scratch/lift start, I found the best way is to use a small piece of copper to start the arc, then move to the workpiece.
